After nearly 10 years using Photoshop from version 3 and now stuck with CS6 I tried quite a few alternatives, and I like Ultimate 10 very much. But one feature I really miss: cropping images freely without the restraint to a fixed ppi. Example: I want to make a 11 x 14" crop of a really small part of the whole image. In CS6 it works by automatically changing the ppi.

In Ultimate 10 I get a fixed crop which covers a bigger part of the picture than I want. Tags: None. There is a "constrain proportion" checkbox you have to UNcheck. Comment Post Cancel. I think the problem is a different one, and that Wolfsi probably do want the proportions fixed to 11x However, to understand what you are trying to do, it would help with some more details and possibly even some screenshots.

For example, are you using crop in develop mode or edit mode? Thank you Bobbert and Niels. Let's say I want to make a 14x11 crop of a portion of a picture. In CS6 Select the crop tool, enter 14x11 and the 14x11 frame appears picture 1. Now I move and resize the frame where I want the crop and click "crop" picture 2 and 3. Now I have a 14x11 picture of the part I selected picture 4.

If I do the same in Ultimate 10 - develop or edit - I will get a 8x5 picture, because the ppi is fixed to a certain value. In CS6 the ppi changes with the resize.

Thanks for your help and patience Wolfgang Attached Files. The proportions are exactly 14x11 - I checked with my calculator. That means the ppi value is set to the max of your monitor ppi. The file itself is not resized, i. If resizing is necessary for printing or slideshow on a UHD screen, that would be an extra step after cropping.

I rename them in particular by adding before the name of the file the Exif information of the image date and time of origin or taken of the image for a more efficient classification.

However, it occurred to me that the image is no longer displayed in the Edit modes that I used by default to correct them, ditto in the Develop menu, which in fact prevents me from carrying out any retouching. I have done various searches on the net without finding anything pertaining to this problem. Can anyone help me to solve this problem which I don't understand the origin. Tags: None. After eliminating to Giga of various duplicates, I currently have , images remaining. This despite the fact that my database which is I uninstalled and reinstalled ACDSee, but this uninstall should not be clean because I found my settings from before and different from the standard options.

In addition, the program notifies me at least once a day that my license has been used too much, to buy back the program or to enter a new license. I therefore reintroduce my license code which is accepted until the next restart. I contacted ACDSee support, who responded by giving me some leads that did not work, and on their last response advised me to test the version by giving me the link for the version of trial For Greyfox question, Yes, in manage mode all seems normal I didn't have error message to locate the files or unmounted volumes.

It is always the use of the external hard drive which feines or of the internal data disc at rpm. Last edited by Greyfox ; , PM. In view of the orphan files not deleted by the optimizations I asked myself the question. Also I uninstalled Ultimate, using Revo uninstaller this time, to attempt to remove all the leftovers. He also found entries from the 2 previous versions, if not more around 9 and 10 pro. The database that I had backed up before could not be recovered because Ultimate told me it was corrupted.

So yesterday I started cataloging my image files on the D drive of the computer. Without plugging in the USB disk. It took several hours and I left him to work alone overnight. This morning it shows me 81, image files, and 0 orphaned files or folders. Before starting to catalog I had also transferred the database to disk D, to save my SSD given the size that the database can take. I saw some by sorting these last days and in principle I eliminated them.

I am not too surprised because I have gathered on this disk the backups of external hard drives and of my old computers, sometimes following crashes or emergency failures to limit possible losses.

There were also recoveries of memory cards with problem or deleted by mistake by children or friends. Some photos were recoverable, others were not. I will therefore tackle cataloging the external disk by going in small steps as you advise me, in fact yesterday I launched the cataloging of all the image files at once, it took hours. Although I had used Revo uninstaller to try to erase all traces of previous installations, there were still some left, because looking at the program options I saw that links to Photoshop and Corel Photoimpact plugins were still there.

I'll also test your latest manage mode tips to see what happens and keep you posted. Thank you for your help. All rights reserved. Yes No. OK Cancel.
